  1. The Voice of God How God speaks to us

  2. He speaks through His word • John 1:14 The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. • Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. • Jesus is the word, reading your bible is knowing Him.

  3. The Word is Living • Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as to divide soul, spirit, joints, and marrow; it is a judge of the ideas and thoughts of the heart. • God’s word is life and alive, because they His words. • God’s word speaks to our conscience, and reveals his attributes, nature, statues, and how we can have a relationship with Him.

  4. God’s Spirit the Holy Spirit • His Spirit is alive and speaks to us • Rom 8:14 All those led by God's Spirit are God's sons. • Rom 8:16 The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God's children. • Rom 8:26 In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings. • 1Co 2:10 Now God has revealed them to us by the Spirit, for the Spirit searches everything, even the deep things of God.

  5. The Spirit our co-worker • 1Co 12:7 A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person to produce what is beneficial. • 1Co 12:11 But one and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each one as He wills. • Gal 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, we must also follow the Spirit. • His Spirit works in us and we can hear the voice of God in five ways.

  6. Five Spiritual senses • Five natural senses help us interact with the world around us: hear, see, taste, touch (feel), and smell. • Five Spiritual senses help us interact with the Holy Spirit: Hear, see, feel, impressions, and dreams. • How does this happen?

  7. Hear the word • A still small voice not heard externally, but internally: like someone whipering in your ear, with words you hear in your mind. • Not your conscience, not the evil one speaking about fears or evil things. • Most common way the prophets heard the word when it came to them. • Isa 38:4 Then the word of the LORD came to Isaiah: • Jer 1:4 The word of the LORD came to me:

  8. See the word • Two types of Visions: simple and open: • Open vision is like Isaiah and John seeing the Lord as he is. Everytime this happens, your life changes and an open vision is associated with the Lord’s calling you. • Simple vision: a picture or video played on the mind, you don’t lose awareness or conscience. • Can be vivid and last for a second or several minutes. • Not imagination, you see because the spirit shows you. • Not sexual, evil, or confusing, but will bring you closer to King Jesus.

  9. When the Spirit touches us • You can feel the spirit when he touches you. • We are all made different. When he touches you he does it in a way you know that it is Him. Again this is not evil or improper, but a great blessing! • Manifestations of His presence when he touches us: peace, love, a sense of electricity that usually touches our head and shoulders. Warm oil that feels like it is flowing on us. Heat in hands or on our shoulders; or a sense of heaviness – a weight that covers us. • And there are many more. He is real, and His touch is real!

  10. Impressions • Usually associated with prayer warriors. • A knowing or feeling like a burning on the inside, that something is happening. • A strong impression that won’t leave, with knowledge about a situation or person. • This is not doom, or disaster, or fear. • Many times in prayer this awareness comes by the Holy Spirit, to help us understand circumstances and situations.

  11. Dreams from the Holy Spirit • Two types of dreams: God dream and a pizza dream. • Pizza dream comes from eating bad food and lots of stress. It is all about scary monsters and weird things. • A God dream, will bring you into the majesty and awe of God: It is with images you can understand. • A God dream, you will remember for the rest of your life. After twenty years, it is vivid as if it happened today. • Dreams are usually warnings, or directions (Daniel, Joseph, Paul and the macedonian man).

  12. Guidelines • You cannot make these things up, we don’t exaggerate; or embelish our experiences, nor do we discount them. • Many times when the Holy Spirit touches us, it is just to bless or encourage us. You will not get information everytime he touches you. • God wants us to be naturally supernatural. Not mystical, or superspiritual. • If we can experience the Holy Spirit in any of these ways, we can also be used in Gifts of the Spirit.

  13. Guidelines continued • The word (the Bible) is our foundation, and we do nothing to contradict what is written. • The Holy Spirit is also involved in character formation and discipleship in our lives. • He leads us to know more about Jesus, in that he takes from Jesus and makes it known to us. • The spirit will not lead us into confusion. • The Holy spirit is not an emotion, but he touches our emotions in that we are made in the image of God.

  14. Conclusion • 1Co 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be uninformed. • 1Co 12:4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; • 1Co 12:5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; • 1Co 12:6 and there are varieties of working, but it is the same God who inspires them all in every one. • It is our Father’s delight that we should hear His voice. It is the privilege of every Christian to hear his voice and be activated in Holy Spirit Gifts.
