UTLC History • April 2008 - President Jacobs announces that a “new entity” will be established “to organizationally house many of the functions essential to extreme student centeredness.” • August 2008 – Provost Haggett announces the creation of the UT Learning Collaborative which will couple student services and programs designed to enrich the undergraduate experience
UTLC Mission Statement The mission of the UTLC is to lead in the design and delivery of innovative and effective programs and support services for student access, retention and success. As a gateway and a catalyst for lifelong learning, the UTLC promotes students’ self discovery and the achievement of their academic goals. We engage a diverse student population in a holistic and humanistic manner through collegial and community partnerships.
The UTLC supports and enhances the academic journey by: • Increasing access to higher education • Improving academic success and retention • Transforming the existing curriculum through experiential learning and undergraduate research opportunities • Providing a range of services for adults and transfer students

Supporting the Academic Journey • UT Testing Services • Memorial Field House – make-up testing for MC classes, placement testing and Compass testing for incoming students • Scott Park Campus – certification, licensure and educational exams (GRE, CLEP, Praxis, MCAT, Social Work Licensure Exam, Athletic Trainer Certification, IT Certification for Cisco, COMP TIA and Novell)

Supporting the Academic Journey • Student Customer Service • Formerly known as Ombudsman • Helps with resolution of student concerns, sensitive/confidential issues, complaints about an office or service at UT, determining whether a UT policy or procedure was applied unfairly
Enhancing the Academic Journey • Honors Program • Designed to meet the needs of highly motivated and academically talented students • Office of Undergraduate Research • Students initiate discussions with faculty about research projects and submit their proposal for consideration • Students are awarded stipends to support their projects
