Stage exams have now been unitised giving more flexibility to candidate For example: Stage 1 Horse Knowledge and Care is split into three units and Stage 1 Riding is one unit. All four units can be taken on the same day or separately - each unit passed can be ‘banked’ and once all four units have been passed the qualification is awarded. If a candidate fails a particular unit they only need to retake that unit Those who take and pass their complete exam on the same day will be awarded a Distinction on their certificate to reflect this achievement How do BHS exams work?
