If I Were Running the Show • Establish clear responsibilities, roles and relationships • More formally bind IT providers together in a way that encourages and facilitates collaboration (dotted line reporting to the CIO…??) • Build stronger relationships with academic units which would facilitate “commercializing” research to the benefit of the university community
If I Were Running the Show • Sharpen the focus upon three major roles of information technology • Support the “business operation” of the institution • Provide the ubiquitous, utility information technology services to the university community • Support the use of information technology in the research, learning, and teaching missions of the University
