The student learning opportunities develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. • Programs are available at the associate degree, diploma, and technical certificate of credits.
Once in technical College Always in? • If you did not meet the requirements for a 4-year research institution, and decided to start your college at a technical or state school you can transfer to any 4-year institution after successfully completing 2 years in the technical college system. • Many colleges have a guaranteed transfer admission program for students who desire to transfer to several 4-year schools.
How do you know Which college is right for you? • Ask yourself:1. What career(s) am I interested in? 2. What experience and/or additional education is required to work in this field? 3. Do I have the prerequisites I need to move in to this career from high school? Beyond the technical College:State Universities & Colleges • State Colleges and Universities offer a smaller atmosphere with more attention but still provide the academic rigor and extensive programs of a larger university • You can continue into a graduate program in specific areas if you wish • Admissions deadlines vary by school so check admission dates (Some are rolling) • GPA – Many state universities use the Freshman Index • Total SAT score + (500 x High School Academic GPA)
