Amphibians are animals that live on both land and water. They are usually born in the water breathing with gills, but then they turn into air-breathing adults. Frogs are amphibians.
When the egg hatches, it turns into a tadpole. It can breathe through its gills. After 6-9 weeks, the tadpole has lungs. Its legs start to grow, too. After 12 weeks, the little tadpole becomes a little frog. Its legs get bigger. It can breathe with lungs instead of gills. After its tail is gone, the little frog becomes an adult frog.
