Summer Reading • The purpose of summer reading is to encourage students to develop an enjoyment for reading. • An information packet will be shared (digital and hardcopies) with parents, students, and teachers to include: expectations, commonly asked questions, suggested novels, how to access novels, and “book talk” framework. • Students will read one of the novels from the list for their grade span or a novel of their choice.

  3. Summer Reading • Students in Honors and AP English will have an additional reading assignment, which will also be posted on the HCS website. • Students will complete a “Book Talk” on the book they select and submit no later than August 23, 2019. • A “Book Talk” convinces or persuades a person to read the book. The essence of a “Book Talk” is to “sell, don’t tell.”
