  2. Causes of SIDS • Childs inability to wake up • Inability of the child's body to detect a build-up of Carbon Dioxide • Brain abnormalities • Respiratory infection • Low birth rate (multiple births) • Exposure to smoke and drugs

  3. SIDS prevention • Sleeping on their back not side or stomach • Avoiding soft bedding • Sleep only in a crib • Lowering room temperature • Offering pacifier • Avoiding pillows
