Overview of FIAM Status • Get Acquainted meeting held on May 26 • Purpose of this training (expected outcome) – Ensure that each local government representative that participates both days will understand the basic purpose of the model, its components and data requirements, the outputs it generates, and the potential uses of the model for their own jurisdiction SFRPC - FIAM Training

Overview of FIAM Status • Developed by Fishkind and Associates under contract to FDEP / FDCA • RPCs are responsible for the “roll-out” across the state (TBRPC lead) – we will train and provide technical assistance to the local governments in South Florida • FIAM User Group will operate in conjunction with the South Florida Economic Forecasting Partnership (www.sfrpc.com/remi.htm), which includes Treasure Coast SFRPC - FIAM Training

Overview of FIAM Status • Some local counties and cities participated in the pilot phase – previous versions are in use • Revisions continue (DCA and Fishkind, with input from RPCs) but the basic model structure is in now place • When local governments should be operational with FIAM or an alternative – Jan/07 SFRPC - FIAM Training

  9. Overview of FIAM Status • New Version 8.0 to be released by DCA in Fall 2006 • Manual for Version 8.0 under development (TBRPC with input from other RPCs) • Additional support for data collection from standardized sources from RPCs, DCA SFRPC - FIAM Training

  10. Introduction to the FIAM Model • Purpose – Evaluate comprehensive plan financial feasibility (whether the mix of land uses on the Future Land Use Map can be financially supported by the local government) SFRPC - FIAM Training
