Objectives • Students will be able to identify characters and setting. • Students will be able to identify conflict and solution. • Students will be able to sequence events in the story.
Materials • The story book “The Three Little Pigs and The Big Bad Wolf”. • Scissors • Glue • Crayons • Sentence strips • Pocket chart • Storybook transparency
Motivation Students will be introduce to the three elements. The elements are straw, wooden sticks, and brick. Each student will see and touch and the three elements and discuss the different physical attributes they exhibit (rough, smooth, light, heavy, flexible, breakable, hard, etc). The teacher will ask students questions such as which element is lighter, stronger, and not breakable.
Lesson Procedure/Guides practice Teacher will read the story, “The Three Little Pigs And The Big Bad Wolf”. Teacher will also present the story on the overhead projector and follow the while reading it to the students.
Independent Practice Students will draw the important events of the story such as what happened in the beginning, middle, (identifying the problem), and then drawing what happened at the end (finding a solution) of the story.
Evaluation/Extension Students will sequence the events in the order they happened. They will color and cut out each picture square on their own and paste them in order on a sentence strip. Students will also retell the story by using the sequencing activity.
