DLR CMC Report Martin Pilgram April 2005 Athens
DLR CCSDS Status Report • DLR’s Areas of interest, DLR contribution • CCSDS Implementations (SLE) • CCSDS - ECSS discussions • Problems • Review Items • Timing of meetings CCSDS CMC, Athens, April 2005
Areas of interest, DLR contribution As being not involved in building spacecrafts and responsible for ground operations the main interest of DLR/GSOC focus on ground related issues • Security WG • Navigation WG • S/C Mon + Control WG • SLE Data Trans. Service WG other interests, which couldn’t be supported are • SLE Service Mgmt. WG • RF & Modulation WG No contribution to the more space related areas as SPACECRAFT ONBOARD INTERFACE SERVICES and SPACE INTERNETWORKING SERVICES Within the review period the DLR contribution was very low, there will be no improvement on this situation during the year. CCSDS CMC, Athens, April 2005
Implementation status Implementation of SLE service user and provider is ongoing for the upcoming projects TerraSar-X and SarLupe. Finished mid 2005, Services RAF, RCF and CLTU available. The functionality of the DLR provider and user nodes are under test just now. Based on the new frame contract with ESA discussion on supporting ESA missions Integral and Smart with Weilheim station are under discussion. For supporting these missions upgrades in the area of service management and security (proxy) are necessary. CCSDS CMC, Athens, April 2005
CCSDS-ECSS discussions (AI CMC-S04-A5) Meeting between European CCSDS and ECSS members took place 18th January 05 at CNES headquarter in Paris. A first reviewed approach is documented in the ECSS_Policy_on_CCSDS and CCSDS_ECSS_Cooperation. It would be fine if CMC could provide comments to ECSS for discussion in the ECSS executive board. CCSDS CMC, Athens, April 2005
Reviews Reviewing documents generated by liason partner • Review of XTCE documentThe XTCE document was presented as an OMG document with a CCSDS header page. It was not clear what is the effect of CCSDS RIDs on this document. Are these RIDs going to OMG as an additional input to their document review or will a CCSDS change page added to the document? As this is the first candidate it should be clearly defined, how documents from liason partners are taken as CCSDS standards. In a closer work with ECSS this might be happening more often. CCSDS CMC, Athens, April 2005
Reviews Working Group Charters • Review process Two of the Working Group Charters were under review. There was no vote from DLR. But there was no problem to accept the charters. There was no review of any other charter. Most of the charters were created with the new CCSDS structure and should be outdated because of the normal period they are looking at. An updating mechanism including the voting for the WG charters should be placed in the “procedures update”. CCSDS CMC, Athens, April 2005
Meeting Dates • CMC in parallel with WG meetings It is not possible to review the progress of the WGs if the CMC will be organized in parallel with the Working Group meetings. Beside that the decision for accepting standards will be delayed till the next CMC because between the meeting a voting is possible but no real discussion. CCSDS CMC, Athens, April 2005
