  15. Years 3 & 4 • Consists of Clinical Rotations • Required “Core” Rotations • Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Surgery, OB, Psych, EM, Peds) • Electives • Many schools (including Jefferson) utilize large affiliate networks to provide clinical training in the 3rd and 4th years.

  17. Idea of a Branch Campus • Medical schools are expanding • Expansion typically follows one of two models: • “In Place” • More students on existing campus and facilities • “Regional campus model” • offer some curriculum to a portion of the class (most commonly clinical education).

  18. Rationale for a DE Branch Campus • Delaware has no medical school • One of 5 in the country • Jefferson acts as the medical school for DE • CCHS is the largest affiliate

Advantages of Branch Campus For Students: • Eliminate orientation to constantly changing locations • Learning one computer system • Learning one hospital system • Creating connections with students, residents and faculty • Becoming part of local culture • Personal relationships for mentoring, letters of recommendations, etc.
