Brainstorm • What is a Public Service Announcement? • What do PSAs have to do with health class? • Definition: • A Public Service Announcement is a message created to educate people about an issue. PSAs can be in the form of a commercial on the radio or TV, or a visual on a billboard, poster, or bumper sticker.

  3. Examples • Compare and contrast: • The Truth Campaign • Kid Wisdom

Activity: • Your group will choose a health issue that you are concerned about in your community or social circle. • You will create a Public Service Announcement poster that will address the issue in the following way: • The topic is simple and clear. • The PSA gets attention and is eye catching. • It includes a slogan and a visual that is memorable. • The PSA is creative and entertaining. • It provides accurate information on the topic’s importance. • The PSA effectively reaches its target audience. • Reflection: • Write one paragraph explaining why you chose that topic and how your PSA addressed the topic. • Presentation: • Present the PSA to the class and explain why you chose the topic.
