Our fleets consist of: 169 Company trucks 176 Owner/Operators (135 Lease/Purchase program) We are full truckload, dry and temperature controlled freight. We also have a Brokerage Service.

  3. WHY DID O & S JOIN SMARTWAY? • O & S has several programs in place designed around saving fuel, which in turn reduces emissions. • O&S has customers that are also SMARTWAY partners. • We believe in their goals. • Decreased Emissions = $$ • IT JUST MADE SENSE!

USING TECHNOLOGY TO SAVE FUEL • Alternative Power Unit Installations - APU • Trucks spec’d for aero profile, reduced wind resistance, and weight reduction strategies such as aluminum wheels. • Truck’s Electronic Control Module has custom parameters… • O & S’s Driver Fuel Economy Incentive and Speed reduction technology. • Engine shutdown with no override allowed.

  6. Tri Pack APU’s 194 units installed since 2005. 25 more scheduled before 12/31/06. Goal is to reduce idle percentage to 5%.

  8. TRAILER TECHNOLOGIES • O & S trailers are 53’ • Equipped with P.S.I. tire inflation systems • Low rolling resistant trailer tires XT-1 MRT • O & S recommends to all of our drivers to reduce the distance between cab and trailer to 35” or less.

  9. Driver Rewards Program since 6/05 ECM settings changed to require truck to achieve 6.5 mpg Decreasing speed from 70 mph to 65 mph could save $1,500 per year per truck. Drivers were given a t-shirt to promote what we were doing SPEED REDUCTION TECHNOLOGY:

MEASURING WITH TECHNOLOGY: • Trucks are downloaded at least once per month. • Data is collected and put into a truck fuel economy report • Report goes to fleet managers • Drivers educated to read downloads • Drivers counseled if needed • Most recently we have started a detailed “Bad Fuel Economy” report • Evaluation: driver related or maintenance issue? • Counsel driver or fuel economy check up is performed
