  4. What does MIRACLE mean? • Models of • Integration through • Religion, • Activation, • Cultural • Learning and • Exchange

MIRACLE is a pilot project aiming at: • developing models of integration between migrants and receiving societies: • adapting existing methodologies and recommendations from secular platforms on integration and testing their use in a religious context; • empowering migrants: • in actively promoting intercultural practices; • In actively participating in the life of the communities. • …

MIRACLE is a pilot project aiming at: • ... • looking at the possibilities of Christian Churches and communities playing a decisive role in integration; • operationalising the notion of integration as a two-way process; • Disseminating the methodology developed together with best practices, succesful models and lesson learned from different integration practices within the project countries.

  7. MIRACLE timing: • Duration: 18 months; • Beginning: December 2009; • Ending: August 2010.

  8. Project stages: • Initial workshop • National trainings • Regional trainings/workshop • Research component • Closing workshop

  9. Initial Worshop • Gathering partners; • Gathering information on the ‘Being Church Together’ process in each country; • Provinding information and training on the methodologies to be used in the national and regional trainings; • Serving for planning the future steps of the MIRACLE project.

  10. National Trainings: • 5 trainings in: Finland, Germany, Italy (2), the Netherlands. • Testing and modifying exsisting methodologies on migrants activiation/participation and role of mediation and intercultural learning. • Duration 3 day maximum with 25 participants including professional trainers; • 2 days of training and 1 day of free space for discussion on migrants involvement in churches in the respective country.

  11. Regional Workshops • 2 trainings: • In Sweden gathering the Nordic countries • In France gathering the Mediterranean countries • Exchanging experiences, testing modules, modyfing modules; • Possibility of cooperating with one sending region (Africa?)

  12. Researching MIRACLE The research component will focus on: • Collecting interviewes with active migrants in churches; • Analysing data gathered; • Collecting best practices, succesfull models, lessons learnt on integration in religious communities.

  13. Researching MIRACLE 2 Interviews: • Each partner should suggest suitable interviewers; • CCME will organise a training day on qualitative interview methods; • Research timeline

  14. Researching MIRACLE 3 Compiling a guide including: • Analysis of interviews; • Collecting best practices, succesfull models/stories, lessons learnt on integration in religious communities; • Revised modules used during national as well as regional trainings.

  15. Concluding Workshop • Presentation of training results and discussion of transferability in a multi-faith context; • Participation of inter-faith and secular actors; • Presentation of the guide.

  16. To sum up: • National trainings will be held in coherence with the project aims; • Regional trainings will revise modules; • Parnerts will actively participate in shaping MIRACLE
