  1. Eschatology A Study Of Last Things Eschatology – Sermon 1

  2. What Do You Believe? Not all eschatology’s are alike! Eschatology – Sermon 1

  3. Who Is Your God? If your god is evolution, then you believe you will evolve into something. Evolutionists believe we’ve evolved from single celled creatures to what we are today. What else can we evolve to? Evolutionists, if they are honest, believe they will evolve into gods themselves. It is only logical. Their eschatology is hopelessness out of despair. But they’re happy with that. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  4. Who Is Your God? Is your God the God of the Bible? Well, congratulations, you have hope! Our end involves an eternal relationship with God in Heaven! We have this hope because of the promises of God. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  5. What We Will Look At This study will deal with things to come. Things that will happen in future dispensations. Because this subject deals with prophecy, there is much to be gained by those who study eschatology! Let’s take a look at what that gain entails for a moment. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  6. Benefits of Eschatology Study It provides joy in the midst of affliction (2 Cor. 4:17 - 18) 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  7. Benefits of Eschatology Study It cleanses and encourages holy living (1 John 3:2 - 3) 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  8. Benefits of Eschatology Study It is profitable, like all Scripture, for a number of important needs in the Christian’s life (2 Tim. 3:16–17) 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  9. Benefits of Eschatology Study It gives facts about life after death (2 Cor. 5:6 - 8) 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  10. Benefits of Eschatology Study It gives truth about the end of history (Rev 10:6) 6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: Eschatology – Sermon 1

  11. Benefits of Eschatology Study Finally: It gives proof of the reliability of all Scripture, for the number of prophecies that have come to pass precisely as predicted cannot be accounted for by chance, but only by God. And: It draws our hearts out in worship to the God who is in complete control and who will accomplish His will in history. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  12. Entering In To The Last Days Since our study deals with the last days and the return of Jesus Christ, we will begin with the departure of Jesus. The story of the Ascension of Jesus into heaven provides information concerning his return, after all! Let’s open up to Acts 1:6 – 11 and see what the Bible tells us about the Ascension of Jesus Christ. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  13. Entering In To The Last Days 6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 7And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  14. Entering In To The Last Days 9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  15. Entering In To The Last Days What happened here in Acts 1:9 is a literal fulfillment of the first part of what Jesus had told his disciples would have to happen! His Ascension into heaven was him leaving which he said was not only necessary but expedient in John 16:7. 7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  16. Entering In To The Last Days The second half of this promise, the sending of the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, occurs in Acts 2:1 – 4. 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  17. Entering In To The Last Days During this time that Jesus is in heaven with the Father and the Holy Ghost is with us, we are not without comforting from God. The Holy Ghost is also performing several other duties. John 14:6 – 7 tells us He abides with those that love Jesus. John 14:26 tells us the Holy Ghost will: • Teach us all things. • Bring to remembrance those things that Jesus said. It is comforting to know that even while Jesus is away, God is still with us in the form of the Holy Ghost. God is with us! Eschatology – Sermon 1

  18. We Are In The Last Days We are in the last days and the feeling amongst Bible believing Christians living for the Lord is the same as Elijah’s in 1 Kings 19:14, 14 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  19. We Are In The Last Days But let us remember God’s response to Elijah in 1 Kings 19:18, 18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him. Footer Text

  20. We Are In The Last Days We should be encouraged that God always has a remnant of believers that have not bowed their knee to the world’s way of doing things. This being said, we also need to remember that the world will hate us and persecute us for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus told his disciples in John 16:1 – 3 the following, Footer Text

  21. We Are In The Last Days 1These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. 2They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. 3And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. 22. We Are In The Last Days The next slide shows areas of the world that are hostile towards Christians. Areas of the world where Christians are harassed, beaten, arrested, fined, tortured, and killed for believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. The slide after it will show the area of the world with the highest concentration of hatred towards Christians because of a hatred for Jesus. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  23. We Are In The Last Days Eschatology – Sermon 1

  24. We Are In The Last Days Do you notice the area of heaviest concentration? Eschatology – Sermon 1

  25. We Are In The Last Days I found it interesting that the area with the heaviest concentration of dots on the map, just happens to turn out to be the area around the nation of Israel. In other words, God’s Land. I found it interesting, also, that the United States does not have a dot in the area of the map belonging to it. That is changing as we speak. The next few slides list the top 10 anti-Christian acts of 2009 according to a poll by the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission. http://christianadc.org/news-and-articles/440-top-10-anti-christian-acts-of-2009 Eschatology – Sermon 1

  26. We Are In The Last Days 10. Pro-life Pastor Reverend Walter Hoye of Oakland, CA was jailed for exercising peaceful, pro-life speech. 9.    Rev. Fred Winters was murdered while preaching in his pulpit in Maryville, Illinois. 8.    HBO’s program "Curb Your Enthusiasm" aired an episode where the main actor urinates on painting of Jesus. When confronted HBO would not apologize. “…but not much of an "attack" when other, world events are considered.” D.M. Murdock, Cleveland Freethought Examiner Eschatology – Sermon 1

  27. We Are In The Last Days 7.    The overt homosexual participation in Obama's presidential inaugural events by “Bishop” Vickie Eugene Robinson, the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington D. C., and a homosexual marching band. 6.    Police called to East Jessamine Middle School in Lexington, Kentucky to stop 8th graders from praying during their lunch break for a student whose mother was tragically killed. 5.    Pro-life activist Jim Pullion was murdered in front of his granddaughter's high school for showing the truth about abortion. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  28. We Are In The Last Days 4.    An activist judge ordered a home school mom in New Hampshire to stop home schooling her daughter because the little girl “reflected too strongly” her mother’s Christian faith. 3.    The Federal Department of Homeland Security issued a report entitled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate" that labeled conservative Christians extremists and potential terrorists. 2.    President Obama's appointment of radical anti-Christians like homosexual activist Kevin Jennings as the "safe school czar;" pro-abortion advocate Kathleen Seblius made Secretary of Human and Health Services, and Chai Feldblum, pro-homosexual and anti-religious liberty judge nominated for Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  29. We Are In The Last Days And the number one anti-Christian act of 2009 is: Eschatology – Sermon 1

  30. We Are In The Last Days 1.    The Federal Hate Crimes Bill that attacks religious liberty and freedom of speech. For the first time in our history ministers are vulnerable to investigation and prosecution for telling the truth about homosexuality. Another first place, in my opinion, goes to our own governor of the state of Ohio, who said during a state of the state speech that he was proud to be the first governor to appoint two openly gay and lesbian judges to the bench. What an accomplishment to be proud of for someone who claims to even be a minister of Jesus Christ. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  31. We Are In The Last Days This shows just how far this country has gone towards their hatred of professing Christians. Christians who are conservative in nature due to their belief that God’s Word is true and every man a liar. Christians who are fundamentalists, in that they hold firm to their belief in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as payment in full for the price of their own sin. We will end this part of our study with a look at the words of Jesus in John 16:16 – 22. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  32. We Are In The Last Days 16A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. 17 Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father? 18 They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith. Eschatology – Sermon 1

  33. We Are In The Last Days 19 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me? 20Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. 21A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. 22And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
