  2. Background information • Located in China,73 20' - 70 57' east longitude and 35 20' - 40 18' north latitude. • Ruled from 206 BCE-220 AD • the Western Han (206 BC - 24 AD) and the Eastern Han (25 - 220).

Who werETHE RULERS OF The Han Dynasty? • Liu Bang conquered the troops of the Qin Dynasty (221 - 207BC) at Julu (currently Hebei Province) and in 206 BC he seized Xianyang (the capital city of the Qin Dynasty), thus ending the rule of Qin. • Han Gaozu(Liu Bang)defeated Xiangyu (his rival) during a four-year war, he established the Western Han in 202 BC and ruled the country for 12 years. 206 BC - 195 BC

  4. Who werE THE RULERS OF The Han Dynasty? • GuangWudi(Liu Xiu) He joined the troops to rebel against the Xin. After defeating the army of Wang Mang, he re-established the Han Dynasty making Luoyang its capital city.25 – 57 • Xiandi (Liu Xie) Son of Lingdi; the Han Dynasty perished under his reign.189 - 220

Achievements • The Han Dynasty brought China to new heights, politically, socially and militarily. • The Han dynasty established the social and moral basis of Chinese society for years to come by making Confucianism the official state ideology (religion?). Formal education was based on this school of thought. • The Han dynasty was able to find ways to improve their economy, promote art, science and literature to a new level.

  6. The decline of the han dynasty. The Western Han Dynasty started to decline during the reign of the Emperor Han Yuan (50 B.C--33 B.C).He was a quite extravagant emperor to began with. In 43 B.C., when there natural disaster strike China, especially in the area of Guan Dong ,he goes to GanQuanfor a trip.It wasn't until his loyal subjects advised him to think about his people before he goes back to the capital city. During his reign,he had thousands of palace maidens,and kept tens of thousands of horses.This is contrary to his predecessor,where there were only a handful of palace maidens,and horses was only bred for the purpose of war.

  7. The decline of the han dynasty. Eventually China entered the Three Kingdom period,where China was divided into three parts,Wei(,Shu Han and Wu .Liu Bei),Emperor of ShuHan,ruled southern parts of China under the banners of Han Dynasty,due to him having a common ancestors with the Han Dynasty royal family.After the Shu Han kingdom was conquered by the Wei kingdom (under the order of it's subject,SimaYi)and his son SimaShiand SimaZhao),Han Dynasty cease to exist.After conquering the Shu Han Kingdom,SimaYan),the son of Sima Zhao overthrow the Wei emperor and established the Jin Dynasty where once again China was unified under one kingdom.

  8. The decline of the han dynasty. Although some warlord call their kingdom Han after the collapse of the Jin dynasty,they remained as warlords,conquered only a small quarter of China. You can refer to my answer here in another question that I've answered earlier
