  2. Florence • Florence Nightingale was born in 1820. • She was born in Italy, in the city of Florence. Her parents were very rich.

  3. Florence's dream as a child was to become a nurse. Her parents didn't want her to, because it wasn’t right for rich people, or women to look after the sick. They thought it was rude!!!!

  4. Florence wanted to go to be a nurse so much she persuaded her parents. Florence had go abroad to Germany to do her training.

  5. Britain became involved in the Crimean war. Florence took 38 nurses to work in a hospital at Scutari.

  6. The hospitals were dirty, smelly and full of germs .There were rats .There weren't any beds or blankets for the soldiers.She died in 1910.
