  2. Early Years Florence was born in Florence , Italy on the 12th of May 1820. This is a picture of Florence when she is about 3.

  3. Teenage years This is a picture of Florence when she was about 18. As Florence grew up she came interested in helping others. Florence was running an hospital at the age 29.

  4. Nursing Career In 1854 Florence was asked to go to Turkey to manage the nursing of the British soldiers who have been wounded in the war. Here she is helping the wounded solders.

  5. The hospital Florence found the hospital conditions appalling. Florence and her nurses changed they conditions Here is the hospital and on of her nurses uniforms. Florence was nick named The Lady With The Lamp because every night she went to check the soldiers with her lamp.

  6. Final Years In later life Florence suffered from poor death. Here are pictures of her when she is an old women. Her grave as well.
