  2. - Introduction - • Douglas Mawson Institute of Technology is an educational leader in applied design and technology. • With these ideals in place we have undertaken a project to show to the IT community that DMIT is proactive in its approach to student education. • By entering the Top500 supercomputer listing DMIT would demonstrate its dedication to achieving the high standards it sets.

  7. - Project Deliverables - • Produce documentation detailing the installation and implementation of a four-node cluster • To demonstrate the feasibility of successfully establishing a OSCAR four-node cluster using Compaq EVO PC’s

  9. - OSCAR - • What does it do? • OSCAR is a cluster software packaging utility • Automatically configures software components • Designed to work universally on PCs (support what Linux supports) • What will it do in the future? • Maintain cluster information database • Work as an interface not just for installation, but also for maintenance • Accelerate software package integration into clusters

  11. - Development of Stage 2 - • Establishing connectivity to 20 nodes • Investigation of GUI based tools • Installation of performance tools • Investigating suitable stress testing software • Implementing stress testing software • Negotiate Stage 3
