Writing Laboratory Reports Example
Purpose • It is a brief statement of the reason for doing the experiment. • It is only one or two sentences long. • It contains your hypothesis.
Materials • It is a list of what you will need to do the experiment. • It is written in sentence form or as a list.

Procedure • It is a step by step description of how the experiment was done. • It is written in paragraph form or in outline form.
Observations or Data • It is a record of what happened during the experiment. • It contains data tables, graphs, calculations, descriptions, and etc.
Conclusions • It is the part of the lab where you tell what you learned or found out. • It is where you state whether of not you hypothesis was correct.
