EASA and the European Aerospace Industry have provided support to the SARI activities.
Considered by COSCAP-SA as its technical arm in its objective to harmonise the regulations in SA.
3. Objective of SARI To create a forum for the Civil Aviation Authorities to foster regulatory convergence in South Asia.
4. Benefits of SARI? To eliminate duplication of effort when developing a new regulation
Ensuring a common understanding or the regulation among the region
Preventing the development of marginal interpretation locally
Pooling of human and financial resources for regulation development and implementation.
Ultimately to reduce burden on aviation industry and its operational cost
5. SARI Part145 development process The SARI partners agreed in 2007 to work on harmonisation of maintenance regulations in South Asia and in priority on the development of a harmonised Maintenance Organisation Approval regulation.
As JAR 145 or EASA Part 145 had already been adopted / adapted by several SA countries, It was agreed to use EASA Part 145 as a reference (EASA Part 145 including ED n0 2009/007/R on fuel tank safety).
6. SARI Part145 development process A working group (WG) formed among the SARI member States to draft SARI Part 145 in 2008.
