DAY 1 Session 4 Defining the issue
Outcomes for participants At the end of this session participants should be able to: • Understand the range of needs and issues of convening participants
Preparing for the activity • In the activity you will work in groups of no more than 6. • Association teams should work together.
Activity • Each association team to share the needs analysis prepared in country – 5 minutes each. Issues common across countries are to be noted. • Needs analysis summaries (1 page) prepared before the convening are to be pinned to a board
Activity • Country teams should read the summaries, noting those with issues similar to theirs by placing a pre-assigned colour dot on them (20 mins) • At the end of this exercise the facilitator will develop a summary of the range of issues, for sharing with all participants. • Any issues that have a regional focus will be identified and these participants can work together for their development proposal. • All development proposals should focus on how their association can achieve the desired outcomes through collaboration across borders.
Activity – needs summary • Work in association teams • What is the priority issue for your association? Why? • Who is the target audience for your issue? (Who will benefit from the proposal. ) • Who are the stakeholders? (Those with a vested interest in the proposal) • Who are potential collaborators or partners? (From the list of stakeholders, who might you usefully work with on this project?)
