Post Games Legacy • The Post Games Volunteer project (PGVP) became: • Manchester Event Volunteers • Aim: to target disadvantaged individuals who could benefit from the development of the skills and confidence gained through volunteering and the training associated with it.
Manchester Event Volunteers • Currently 3,000 people on database • Supported more than 400 events • Qualifications in volunteering • Mentors and team leaders
Benefits to Volunteers • Increased skills and confidence • Improved job prospects • Further qualifications • Links in communities • “I became a volunteer during long term unemployment to give me something to look forward to. When I gained employment it was one of the main reasons why I got the job. The employer has given me as much support as she can with my volunteering.”
