Supplemental Reading Dec 3-7 Monday Common Core RL.3.1 Book: Amos and Boris; Preview Story- focusing on genre of story based on the cover have students give proof with their responses. Read Story with students. Tuesday Focus on rich language by the author: list words on chart paper that students share from the book. Discuss why these are “rich” words and what they help do in the story. RL.3.4 Wednesday Today with the story focus on the point of view of Amos and Boris. How did they feel similar/different during certain events in the story. Students will write a journal entry as if they were Amos or Boris using “rich” language. RL.3.6 Thursday RL3.2 Review skill: Theme Students will respond to journal prompt giving the theme of the story along with proof and an illustration on whale paper.
