Mr. hudson O’connor high school
Who I am • My name is Darrell Hudson and I am in my 9th year teaching here at Sandra Day O’Connor High School. I am from Arizona and I graduated from ASU with my Bachelor’s in History, my Post-Bac teaching certificate, and my Master’s in Education Administration and Leadership. I was also the mascot, Sparky, from 2004-2008, so I have a lot of Sun Devil pride. • I teach 3 preps: Beginning theatre, Stage Production, and World History AP (WHAP). Please scroll through this powerpoint to the correct class your child is in. • If you need to contact me, please email me at Darrell.Hudson@dvusd.org as I travel between 4 classrooms, 2 of which have no phone.

WHAP • AS WHAP IS A COLLEGE-LEVEL BOOK, STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO DO OUTSIDE OF CLASS READING. STUDENTS SHOULD MANAGE THEIR TIME SO THEY DO NOT FALL BEHIND, AS DOING SO WILL CAUSE THEM TO FALL BELOW IN CLASS. THE AVERAGE READING IS 3-5 PAGES A DAY FOR A CHAPTER FOR THE WEEK. • WEEKLY QUIZZES FOR THE CHAPTER ARE TO HELP WITH THE MULTIPLE CHOICE PORTION OF THE AP EXAM IN MAY. STUDENTS MAY USE HAND-WRITTEN NOTES FOR THEIR QUIZZES ON THE CHAPTERS. • TEST CORRECTIONS ARE AVAILABLE FOR UNIT TESTS ONLY. STUDENTS MUST MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO DO TEST CORRECTIONS AND FOLLOW THE PROCEDURES TO UNDERSTAND WHY THEY GOT THE INCORRECT ANSWER. STUDENTS MAY EARN 1/3 OF THE POINT BACK ON INCORRECT ANSWERS. • WRITING IS A CRITICAL SKILL FOR COLLEGE, SO WRITING IS A BIG PIECE OF WHAP. STUDENTS SHOULD NOT NEGLECT ANY WRITTEN PIECES FOR CLASS.
ADDITIONAL HELP/INFO • IF YOUR STUDENT WOULD LIKE ADDITIONAL HELP, PLEASE HAVE THEM TALK TO ME SO WE CAN SET UP AN APPOINTMENT. • IF YOUR STUDENT IS INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN THE DRAMA CLUB, THEY CAN CHECK THE BOARD OUTSIDE THE BLACK BOX IN THE PA BUILDING.
