History • Founded in 1997 by Professor Guido Lemos (working at UFPB, nowadays) • First Project: Natal – RN Metropolitan Network • 12 P.H.D and more than 40 M.S.C formers • More than 50 executed projects • Current researches in Interactive Digital TV, Virtual Reality, Robotics (mainly Vision), Games and Embedded Systems.

  23. Visual Odometry • Localization and mapping system using a single camera as sensing device • Robot position is estimated by applying geometric and statistical models in features extracted from images • Provides a reliable, fast and low cost solution

  24. Stereo Vision • Camera pair with overlapping field of view as the sensing device • Objective: obstacle avoidance and mapping
