Arts study in Romanian education system implies:1. Art EducationII. Music Education
in preschool education the most skills (cognitive, affective, social, civic, etc.) develop through the study of Art and Music • in primary education – 1h/week for Art and 1h/week for Music
Secondary school: • 5th grade to 7th grade : 1h-week for Art and 1h/week for Music. • 8thgrade : 1/2h-week for Art and 1/2h-week for Music (one class at 2 weeks for each subject) High school: • Only the classes from the humanist profile study Art and Music, 1/2 h-week.(one class at 2 weeks for each subject) • only the classes from the vocational profile study Art or Music intensively
Art education • Art Curriculum – creative experience and artistic communication in fine arts; • An efficient implementation of the Art Curriculum implies: • The use of interactive teaching methods; • The use of students’ and teachers’ creativity; • The integration of the act of creation in the teaching process; • The development of children’s positive attitude towards people around and surrounding world; • The cultivation of students’ own artistic view.
Principles of plastic artistic education: • Connection between theory and practice; • Unity between sensory and rational; • Global, unitary perception of form and content in an artwork; • Observance of authentic values; • Unity of perception and creation; • Ethno-cultural principle; • Unity between student’s self-expression and the development of plastic
Evaluation in Art classes: • the degree of the student’s involvement; • the student’s effort; • his/her motivation; • the creative idea selected by the student; • expressivity and originality in presentation.
Music Education involves: • achievement of skills and abilities of music interpretation and reception; • learning elements of musical culture for interpretive and reception activity; • development of some criteria of aesthetic and axiological appreciation ; • cultivation sensitivity and imagination.
Reasons for the lack of efficiency of the music education in secondary school: • up to the 5th grade Music classes are taught by educators and form teachers, not by specialized Music teachers; • reduced number of classes: 1h - every two weeks for the 8th grade.
Music education in Romanian school focuses on: • singing and music theory !!!musical instruments are studied only at vocational high schools, or as part of extracurricular activities; (for example at “PetruPoni” School- a Guitar Club)
There is a choir in each school, as an extracurricular activity.
