  2. Facebook Facts • Facebook started at Harvard University as Facemash.com, allowing users to compare two faces and determine which one was ‘hot’ and which one was ‘not’ (October 23, 2003)

Facebook Facts • Thefacebook.com was registered on January 11, 2004 – by December 30, 2004, 1 million members were registered • On Feb. 4th, the site was up on the web: within 24 hours 1200 students had signed up • By June of 2004, the site had gone beyond Harvard, beyond Ivy League schools to 30 Universities and had 150,000 members • By October, 2012, Facebook has 1 Billion profiles.

Facebook Facts • Facebook said that last year it logged 1.13 trillion "likes," 219 billion photos uploaded, and had 604 million mobile users • 1/3 of all divorce filings in 2011 had the word Facebook in them • 20% of all photos that will be taken this year will end up on Facebook • On Facebook there is only 3.74 degrees of separation

Facebook Definitions • Post any entry or comment on a Facebook page • Home page  the first page that people see when they log in to Facebook -- it has all the activity (posts), links and updates • Status Update  A single idea, concisely stated, that reflects your current circumstance or state of mind, i.e. one’s current whereabouts, actions, or thoughts. • Fan  A person who has joined a page because they like what that page represents.

  8. Jesus initiates the friendship “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.” (John 15:13–17)
