  11. There is also the Neighborhood Map You could use this to provide details on: Incidents where something might have happened Important locations Provide a unique perspective to your composition Consider “The House on Mango Street”

  12. Why Thinking Maps, anyways? Either mapping strategy might help you: • Organize your thoughts • Develop cohesive ideas about your topic/subject • Make connections through visual representations • Helps you as a reader visualize what you are reading

  13. How to use this strategy for your assignment • Consider yourself a resource for a writing project. • How could you use this to map out your own story? • You might consider blending this idea with a Neighborhood Map of your life.

  14. Directions • Decide on a style: straight up mind map, neighborhood map, or a combination of both • Composition must be on a Unlined piece of paper • Must fill entire page • Writing must end up in INK, Marker, or Colored Pencils

  15. What is required • Your name AND the period you are in! • 10 incidents or details about you • On the back of composition, a single paragraph reflection on this activity.

  16. For next session: • Have your composition book with you from now on. • Join Edmodo. • Concept map is due on Monday.
