Rakkasatangadi war • After Krishna deva raya, his son in law Rama raya of aravidu dynasty ruled vijayanagara. • Rakkasatangadi war between the sultanates and army of vijayanagar had started on 23rd January of 1565 CE on the bamks of krishna river. • Rama Raya died in the war. and Sultanates looted Vijayanagar.

Let Us Study About Vijayanagara Empire Vijayanagara Empire was founded in 1336 CE by the Harihara and Bukkaraya. ವಿಜಯನಗರ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕ್ರಿ.ಶ 1336 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿಹರ ಮತ್ತು ಬುಕ್ಕರಾಯರು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದರು. They founded it on Southern bank of TUNGABHADRA RIVER. ಅವರು ತುಂಗಭದ್ರಾ ನದಿಯ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ದಂಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಜಯನಗರ ರಾಜವಂಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದರು.

  8. SANGAMA DYNASTY HARIHARA was the first king of this dynasty.He gave a strong foundation for his empire. He had no son. So After his death, BUKKARAYA (Brother of Harihara) took over the power. Harihara and bukkaraya both are called as HAKKABUKKA Harihara2, Bukkaraya2, Virupaksha2, Devaraya1, Viravijayaraya, Devaraya2 were ruled the vijayanagara empire after Bukkaraya.

Devaraya2 was the famous king of Sangama dynasty • ABOUT DEVARAYA2 • He is also named as PraudhaDevaraya. • He had ruled from 1424-1446CE. • He built jaina and vaishnava temple in the capital • and permitted to build mosque also. • He got the titles : “Gajabentegara”, • “Chatusamudradishwara”, “Arirayavibhada”. • After his death, his son Mallikarjuna and then • Virupaksha3 ruled Vijayanagar.

  10. SALUVA AND TULUVA DYNASTY • Saluva dynasty( 1485-1505CE): SaluvaNarasimha ruled for 6 years after taking the power in 1485 CE. • After his death, his children were minor. So this kingdom was in the protection of TuluvaNarasimhanayaka and then he ruled from 1491-1503. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ • Tuluva Dynasty(1505-1567CE): After TuluvaNarasimhanayaka, his son ViraNarasimha ruled the dynasty(1505-1509). • After his death(1509), his brother “Krishna Deva Raya” came to the power.

  11. KRISHNA DEVA RAYA • Krishna deva raya was the famous and • greatest king of the vijayanagara empire. • He married GajapatiPratapaRudra’s daughter • “jaganmohini” . • Robert sewell stated about him that He was • the Brave king, Intelligent soldier and • diplomatic expert.

  12. Vijayanagar in the reign of Krishna deva raya • He seized Sivanasamudra fort from Ummattur chief , ganga raja in 1510CE. • He won Raichur fort, Yadavagiri fort. Captured cuttack, kalaburgi, bidar forts. • At the time of his death, Vijayanagara kingdom was expanded in all 4 directions. • He got the title “YavanaRajyaPrathishtapanacharya”.

  13. Cultural contributes of vijayanagar Empire.. • Vijayanagar Empire had strong central administration. And the king was the supreme judiciary. • Arabian Horses were the centre of attraction in vijayanagar. • Infantry, Cavalry, Elephant and Canon division were the prominent divisions in the army.

  14. Social Status: • Child marriage, Sati system and devadasi system were in practice. • Women were respected. • Deepavali and Dasara festivals were celebrated grandly. • Dasara festival was celebrated under the king’s patronage.

  15. Economical status: • Aggriculture was the main occupation • Major crops were Mize, Rice, Cotton crops, Sugar cane. • There were trade link with other countries. And sugar, diamonds, rice, cotton, clothes, iron, musk, sandal and spices were exported.

  16. Literature • Sanskrit, teluguand kannada literature were developed. • Vidyaranya wrote books like “Shankaravijaya”, “Sarvadarshansangraha”. • Gangadevi wrote madhuravijayam, Praudadevaraya wrote
