  2. DIY – Alt-J Featured This magazine cover, as most with general knowledge of music, is a music magazine even if it maybe does not seem it. This is shown when Reading and Leeds is presented at the top of the cover, both being large festivals for music and also any lovers of the band Alt-J will recognise the name located at the bottom of the page. The cover is fairly simplistic and has vintage styled photos so that the cover looks old fashioned and retro as this relates to the band Alt-J and its genre that mostly applies to individual and unique music, also known as ‘indie’.

  3. NME – The Drums Featured This is a very modern look on this magazine, and it primarily features indie band, The Drums. The magazine is a music magazine which most people will recognise due to it being NME, which is probably the biggest music magazine there is. The cover includes an American flag as The Drums has gained fame through being a traditional British indie rock band, or at least that’s exactly the sound they’re going for and what they produce, regardless of actually being American, the flag pays tribute to them being American but having success as a British sounding band.

  4. NME – The Drums Featured The layout is also very simplistic in a very orderly fashion in terms of the way it is laid out. It also includes lots of plugs showing the other bands/music featured within the magazine mostly all keeping to the theme of indie rock. Additionally I have noticed there is definitely a colour scheme mostly being red and blue which relates, again, to the American flag in the background.

  5. Metal Edge – System of a Down Featured This magazine cover features the heavy rock band System of a Down and is laid out slightly differently to other magazines because of the substantial change in genre of music. The cover looks very Americanised and is also, like the previous cover very simplistic both in layout and the amount of text. Although this is good in the sense a cover is just meant to catch a customer’s eye it doesn’t really explain what it is and so only those accustomed to System of a Down or the magazine company will know what it is.
