  1. MAGAZINEANALYSIS Nme28/09/13 q 04/2004 Slices 03/2011

  2. Nmemagazine analysis The other stories in the magazine are shown, only using the name of the band that is featured. They are slanted so the are straight to the framing for the Haimpicture. Bold, recognisable branding, top left (easily visible on a magazine shelf). Name of the magazine is short and therefore, not easy to be obstructed without covering the entire band. The cover photo of Haim is tilted on the cover, giving the impression of it being put down, randomly on a table with other bits of paper. It gives it an edgy and unique look. These small speech boxes also give the impression of paper being put down randomly. They are not at right angles, but are tilted and cover parts of the picture. This also allows the text to be read easier. The symbols in the top text box allow us to know that she used a swear word, without putting it on the front of a magazine where children could read it. The names in the boxes also have the gaps in the letters coloured in. The text is bold and eye catching. The gaps in the letters are coloured in, and the text is in capitals. This draws the reader in. It’s loud and large without being busy.

  3. Q magazine analysis The second-main stories featured in the magazine are placed opposite the name tag “Q” where they are easy to see to draw in more readers. Bold. Big, recognisable name at the top and to the left, very much like NME. Easily seen on the shelf. Main storyline is in the centre of the cover, drawing the most attention. The grey background gives a good contrast between the colour of the texts. This shows something else included in the magazine with emphasis on “25” and “rock” to draw in someone who is interested in a magazine that has a lot of rock-related things. The other articles in the magazine that may be seen as less important have been placed at the bottom of the page. It is suggested that they are included in the magazine because of the blue + sign.

  4. Slices magazine analysis Big, bold, recognisable titleon the masthead so it’s easy to see. It’s square logo is also clearly visible. The main picture is framed twice. First, by the black framing, and then the white framing around the grey background of the main picture. The other main stories featured in the magazine are under the masthead. Only one picture is featured on the cover making it look more focused on ne topic. It also makes it seem more minimalistic. Advertisements
