DESCRIPTION AND ACHIEVEMENTS: TECNALIA has a patent portfolio comprising 114 families that cover many different technological areas. This portfolio is constantly evolving and it is dynamically managed according to the business divisions’ technology strategy. TECNALIA currently has 286 active patents of which 52 were requested last year. The most remarkable activities in the technology transfer field are those related with entrepreneurship and negotiation of license agreements: Throughout its history, TECNALIA has promoted the creation of numerous New Technology-Based Firms, of which 25 are still operating and employ 132 people. Nowadays, TECNALIA is still stakeholder in 17 of these NTBCs. On the other hand, TECNALIA has promoted the knowledge transfer to the industrial sector through the establishment of licensing agreements with companies both nationally and internationally.   3. DESCRIPTION AND ACHIEVEMENTS:  CEIT is a private multidisciplinary non-profit research centre closely connected to TECNUN, the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Navarra (Spain). Its mission is to provide the industry with services through the development of technical research projects and to form young researchers and PhD students. CEIT promotes excellence in applied research by publishing non confidential results and participating in scientific and technical forums. The centre also has a comprehensive doctoral teaching program in the industrial area. CEIT understands all aspects of the client’s position and therefore can seek out the best possible collaborations across the industry. CEIT promotes high added value solutions through research projects and by training young researchers within a commercially productive framework. CEIT has a staff of 248 employees and 93 PhD students and an annual budget over 15 M€. CEIT consists of three departments (Materials, Applied Mechanics, and Electronics and Communications) and three R&D Units (Unit on Microelectronics and Microsystems, Environmental Engineering Unit and Biomedical Engineering Unit). Project Management experience CEIT has been involved in 15 FP6 projects, having the role of coordinator in 2 of them: DELILA (FP6 STREP) and INTERFACE (FP6 STREP). Moreover, CEIT, at the moment, is involved in 29 FP7 projects, having the role of coordinator in 10 of them: CONFIDENCE - 214986 (FP7-ICT-2007-1), HESCAP - 241405 (FP7-ENERGY-2009-1), TREND - 285259 (FP7-SST-2011-RTD-1), HEMIS - 314609 (FP7-2012-ICT-GC), E3NETWORK - 317957 (FP7-ICT-2011-8), ECUC - 314244 (FP7-SST-2012-RTD-1), EATS - 314219 (FP7-SST-2012-RTD-1), WILDCRAFT - 323466 (SP1-JTI-CS-2012-01), RORC - 325974 (SP1-JTI-CS-2012-02) and NESMONIC – 337568 (SP1-JTI-CS-2012-03) and has also participated in 11 Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS) having the role of coordinator in 2 of them: PACROLP-II and OPTIBOS. TECHNOLOGY PORTFOLIO: At IK4-IDEKO, a technological centrespecialising in industrial manufacturing and production technologies, we have a flexible collaboration model that is adapted to all types of customer: from the timely provision of technological services to the establishment of multiannual R&D plans, as well as support to the customer's development strategy for the product, process or service through the implementation of R&D projects. At IK4-IDEKO we provide companies with differentiating technological solutions that enable them to improve their competitiveness. Our specialization is based in the development of our 8  research areas: Strategic Innovation, Manufacturing management, dynamics and control, mechanical design, intelligent software, manufacturing processes, inspection and measurement and microtechnology and ultraprecsion. IK4-IDEKO offers a broad range of advanced services of Measurement, Inspection and Verification, Ultra-precision dimensional measurement, Measurement of residual stresses, Verification and machine fault diagnosis, Non-contact NDT inspection, Thermography, Measurement by vision, Photogrammetry and NDT Inspection using ultrasound, for this we make our most advanced equipment available to customers. Beyond the measurement services, IK4-IDEKO offers a modelling and management service of production lines and the resolution of vibration problems in machine tools. Furthermore, we have the capability to work on the development of products from their conceptual phase to the completion of the prototype using structure and drive optimisation systems. DESCRIPTION AND ACHIEVEMENTS:  With an annual turnover of 8M€ and 16 patents to its name, IK4-IDEKO already has several technological results to its credit, which allows us to be more effective as regards the added value we provide to companies: One of these is the IKDAS product, a signal acquisition and processing platform for machines. In the vibration elimination area, we have developed active dampers to increase damping of the MT structure, thus achieving a significant reduction in machine vibrations and an improvement in the quality of the part and in the cutting capacity. Lastly, in the innovation area, IK4-IDEKO has developed the “IDK Intelligence SUITE” a set of methodologies and tools focused on Competitive Intelligence. In the sustainability area, the results are fundamentally aimed at the entire design and manufacturing process. We have developed capabilities and technology offering sustainable and resource efficient solutions - how to achieve efficiency in cooling by means of optimised nozzles, the use of MQL in grinding, the extraction of internal chips through the tool in machining processes, new part inspection systems eliminating contaminating liquids, new machine methods based on eco-design and substitution of materials, with lower energy needs for their manufacture - are some of the most significant examples. TECHNOLOGY PORTFOLIO: AIMME structures its technology offer around 5 main activity lines: • Chemical Technologies (applied electrochemistry, coatings, nanotechnology-based surface modification, clean technologies, and pollution correction in the industrial and service sectors, etc.). • New manufacturing processes (development and application of additive manufacturing technologies, advanced characterization of metal goods and their coatings). • Product Development (electromechanical development, mechanical/thermal/CFD analysis) • Sustainabilityand processesmanagement (Productionmanagement, environmentalmanagementsystems, LifeCycleAnalysis, Innovationmanagement). • Laboratory testing: biological and chemical analysis, mechanical testing, corrosion and coatings, dimensional metrology, electric tests, composition of precious metal goods, etc.). Most of our laboratories sport accreditations from the National Entity of Accreditation ENAC. DESCRIPTION AND ACHIEVEMENTS: As the Research Association of the Metal industry, AIMME includes more than 400 affiliated companies. Its activity is strongly focused on this industrial ground, representing the incomes from direct technology transfer to the productive fabric a 54% of our operation (average of last 4 years). Returns from the 7th Framework Programme have increased by a 100% in that period, reaching in 2012 a 12% of the total activity of the Institute. AIMME is currently a reference center in Additive Manufacturing Technologies and in electrochemical technologies applied to environmental issues. DESCRIPTION AND ACHIEVEMENTS: The IBV aims to improve people’s quality of life, health and wellbeing. The centre applies knowledge from different sciences and disciplines like biomechanics, ergonomics and emotional engineering. Some achievements in R&D are innovative fatigue detectors integrated in the car, smart sneakers that help plan training and prevent injuries, anthropometric studies or devices for reducing essential tremor. Annually AICIA participates in more than ten international projects and in over 100 R&D projects. Other activities includes analysis, tests , studies ,consultancy, courses and conferences. Among the international projects stands those that belong to the the Seventh Framework Programme and the European Space Agency, mainly in the areas of ICTs , Energy and Environment ,and Aeronautics. Among the R&D projects are those corresponding to the Innterconecta calls (AICIA participates in 15 projects of the first call and 17 of the second with a total amount of 14 M €). WWW.AICIA.ES

CASE STUDIES: EC-SAFEMOBIL. Estimation and control for safe wireless high mobility cooperative industrial systems Sector: Aerospace and ICT This Cooperative project financed by 7th FP and coordinated by FADA-CATEC. EC-SAFEMOBIL is devoted to the development of accurate common motion estimation and control methods and technologies in order to reach levels of reliability and safety to facilitate unmanned vehicle deployment in a broad range of applications. The main objective of EC-SAFEMOBIL is to address the development of new estimation/prediction and cooperative control methodologies and their practical application to highly mobile entities with complex dynamics and functional behaviour. TECHNOLOGY PORTFOLIO: Line of Tests of I+D+i in his Climatic Gallery, emphasizing the Tests ATP in which the global coefficient of heat transfer "k", that characterizes the isotermia of the ATP vehicles, is defined. The Tunnel of Cold is the principal area of tests and it has the designation of Official Station of test, by the Department of Industry Energy and Tourism and also it has the recognition for the UNECE. On the other hand, Tests of isolation of refrigerating vehicles, Tests of equipments of air conditioning vehicle, Tests of efficiency in the refrigeration of engines, Tests of simulation of solar radiation, and test of high resistance speed of the wind are also carried out. Line of specialized Services, emphasizing Product and Manufacturing Engineering and classifying it in: I+D+i applied to the Product Design (Simulations with finite elements with the software Ansys, Conceptual and Style Product Design with the Software Catia V5, Diverse technologies, materials and sectors; automotive, railroad ---- and aeronautics, Digitalization 3D, generation of geometrical information very accurate, global Concepcion of the design) and I+D+i applied to Manufacturing (Design of tools and manufacturing fixtures: welding and assembly fixtures, checking fixtures for precision parts, etc., Lay-out of plant, Optimization of processes, Manufacturing processes, Pre/audits in ISO 9001:2008). Also to emphasize the service that is given to the companies in matter of metrology (Measurements, three-dimensional tests and 3D scanning, Preparation of specifics Plans of Calibration, Management of measurement equipments, consultancy in the purchase of equipments, Measurement Systems design, Optimization of quality costs, Management of equipments of measurement to achieve the fulfillment of the ISO certifications 9000, TS, PECAL, etc., Tests and homologations of the first samples and Calibrations of bosses and equipments) DESCRIPTION AND ACHIEVEMENTS: CETEMET has developed projects of Research and development, with significant results since it is the case of the Project MEET " Efficiency Improves in Elements of Transport ", that consisted of evaluating and developing a standard of energy efficiency for refrigerating vehicles dedicated to the transport of commodity to controlled temperature. And informed in important projects in consortium, with other entities and companies; Project SAGEMUS " System Advanced for the Management of the Urban Sustainable Mobility " with Foundation for the Investigation and the Development of the Technologies of the Information in Andalusia, FIDETIA, project INNVEXTRAN " Innovative Technologies for the Development of a Light plugging Electrical Vehicle with Extension of Range " with Plastic Injections Mecacontrol and the University Institute of Investigation of the Car (INSIA) of the Technical University of Madrid, Project ODISEO " Development and investigation in electrical systems " with Eads Construcciones Aeronáuticas, S.A. and ELIMCO Integral Solutions, S.A. and project SEAMAR " Wind Andalusian Solutions for the SEA " with Navantia. TECNOLOGY PORTFOLIO: CTME has four laboratories endowed with adequate equipment and human resources to offer our customer a high quality service, either under customers specifications or any rules under which we are accredited. Below contains an overview of the services offered by each of them. 1.       Metal materialslaboratory: characterization of metallicmaterials and components (steels, castings, aluminum and titanium, alloys etc.) throughmechanicaltests, metallographicanalysis, chemicalanalysis, corrosiontesting and non-destructivetesting. 2.       Non metallic materials laboratory: thermal, chemical, physical and mechanical analysis for of plastic and composite materials characterization. 3.       Environmental Laboratory: taking of sample and analysis in all types of water (drinking water, inland waters, wastewater discharge, etc.). Chemical analysis of surface treatment baths.  waste, sludge and soils analysis.  Sound levels Measurements. 4.       Metrology Laboratory: patterns and measuring equipment calibration in the areas: dimensional - temperature and humidity - pressure - electricity - mass - force and torque. 3D Verification of industrial parts. DESCRIPTION AND ACHIEVEMENTS: CTME, founded in 1992, began operating as an Association for Research and Technology Centre in Miranda de Ebro, was converted to the current Technology Centre Foundation in 2007. Today, its task is to give solutions, responsibly and sustainably, to the competitive needs through the RTD and innovation, pursuing to become a Centre of Excellence in environmental technologies, national benchmark in eco-design and leader in environment for technology services, acting in a stable framework of national and international collaboration with other institutions and RTD agencies. As high-tech centre, CTME performs technical innovation directed to industry and institutions and, since its conception, its research has focused on two different areas: sustainable management (life cycle assessment, ecodesign, environmental communication) and new materials (nanomaterials, metallic and non-metallic foams, biopolymers and valorization of sub-products and residues focused on RTD related to technological processes to inert a wide range of metallic powders: Al, Mg, Mn; Patent number 200.702.089 "Process of inerting of aluminium for its reuse industrial powder".). Finally we have a wide experience industrial process improvement (process, product and production) working with tools as implementation of Management Systems as EFQM, Management Systems Audits, CE Marking, Failure analysis and predictive modelling of the life cycle, etc. WWW.CTME.ORG

  12. RESEARCH AREAS: • TransportSafety • ProductProcessMaterials • Energyand Environment • Sectors: Transport (Automotive, Railways, Aeronautics), Energy and Environment. CASE STUDIES: AURÍGIDAS: Ballast flying phenomenon and train-track aerodynamic behaviour at the passage of high speed trains (300 km/h) Sector: Energy and Environment The aim of the project is to search technological solutions to mitigate the ballast flying phenomenon in high speed lines. This phenomenon causes the limitation of train speed and causes important damages to vehicles and infrastructure. During the development of the project the consortium generates knowledge to characterize the phenomenon and it also works to develop new solutions for mitigate the phenomenon. In the context of the project CIDAUT developed technology for infrastructure maintenance machinery and a new patented product with the other partners. This product is a new sleeper with an advanced geometry that will be proof during 2012. WWW.CIDAUT.ES

  13. TECHNOLOGY PORTFOLIO: CTAG started its activities in 2002. Since then, the Centre is focused on developing R&D projects and providing high added value technological services for the automotive industry in the following areas of expertise: • Electronics and Intelligent Transportation Systems • Comfort and human factor technologies and evaluation • New materials and associated processes • Safety • Environment • Innovation and knowledge management For this, the Centre has a highly qualified staff, with more than 300 PhD, engineers and specialized technicians. It offers access to a wide range of cutting-edge scientific equipment through several laboratories (Passive Safety; Design, Calculation, Simulation and Manufacturing Processes; Rapid Prototyping: Metrology; Plastic materials, textiles and electrical wire-cables; Climatic, Acoustics and Vibration; Fatigue of components; Heat exchangers and Motors; Electronic and Intelligent Transport Systems; Human Machine Interface and Technological Prototypes.) DESCRIPTION AND ACHIEVEMENTS:  CTAG strategy is mainly focused on the scientific and technical excellence, as well as the internationalization of its activities. These are all supported by its R&D and Innovation management system, certified in 2009 under the UNE 166002:2006 standard. Around 85% of its income (over 17 Million Euros in 2012) is the turnover of 225 costumer’s companies, of which 30% corresponds to foreign companies. In addition, the Centre develops its own R&D and Innovation lines, attending regularly to public calls for grants. With respect to the European programs, since 2007 CTAG has participated in more than 80 proposals for collaborative projects (most of them in the EU R&D 7th Framework Programme, but also in the CIP Programme, JTI Artemis, ERA-nets, POCTEP and SUDOE) of which 24 have been approved, obtaining over 6 Million Euros of return. As a result of its R&D activities, over the past few years CTAG has filed 15 patents. It has also signed more than 70 cooperation agreements on R&D and Innovation with companies. WWW.CTAG.COM

RESEARCH AREAS: • Developing new products, addressing all stages of its design: strategic definition, concept design, detailed design, technical office and product engineering and preparation for production. • Advanced manufacturing technologies, such as additive manufacturing, micromachining & microinjection, incremental sheet metal forming or milling. • Improving companies’ productivity by applying innovative tools, technologies and solutions, such as improvement of production processes, plant reengineering, simulation of industrial processes, workstation design, automation of industrial processes, 3D inspection systems, dimensional metrology, electromagnetic compatibility tests or maintenance support technologies. • R&D and innovation project management, technology protection, technology surveillance and forecasting and internationalisation of R&D and Innovation DESCRIPTION AND ACHIEVEMENTS:  Since its start-up in 2005, PRODINTEC has accomplished 326 R&D projects and 4.931 technology services for more than 500 customers, most of them SMEs. Moreover, PRODINTEC executes internal R&D and innovation projects at regional, national and international level. Its final objective is to generate knowledge in the fields of industrial design and manufacturing and put it to companies’ disposal. The European project Light-Rolls, coordinated by PRODINTEC, for example, has resulted in the implementation of an innovative pilot line for the seamless, high throughput manufacture of micro-structured, polymer based components and microsystems.
