Questions for Our Thought • What is “culture”? • What is the “culture of education”? • “Big culture” – common to all institutions • “Little culture” – in a specific place, institution • How might technology interact with those forms of educational culture? • What interesting questions can, should we ask about these things?
How Determinative is Technology? • “Hard sense” – A technology causes things to happen; once it is in play, things cannot turn out otherwise • “Soft sense” – A technology can shape or influence how things happen, but doesn’t by itself determine what will happen
