  2. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith… godliness. 2 Peter 1:6

  3. What Does Godliness Look Like?

  4. “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16: 7

  5. Godliness: Is not about what you look like Is not about what you do

  6. But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.  For people will be lovers of self… rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 2 Timothy 3:1-5

  7. Godliness: Is about taking God seriously

  8. “Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, ‘To the unknown god.’ Acts 17:22-23

  9. Godliness: Is about living like God

  10. But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all TO PUT THEIR RELIGION INTO PRACTICE by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God. 1 Timothy 5:4

  11. Godliness: Is about pursuing God

  12. Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be GODLY. For physical training is of some value, but GODLINESS has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 1 Timothy 4:7-8

  13. As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.. Psalm 42:1-2
