  4. Accountability and responsibility • Responsibility for schools in the MAT is held by the MAT Board • Board is accountable to the Secretary of State for the funding agreement and standards • Delegated responsibility to local governing bodies

  5. Financial responsibilities • Company limited by guarantee • Ultimately responsible for stewardship of funds • Delegate budget to schools/top-slicing • Board must have the skills, knowledge and experience to run the academy trust
