  2. vocabulary • Vertebrate-any animal with a backbone • Invertebrate- any animal that does not have a backbone • Kingdom-the largest grouping used to classify animals • Cold-blooded-body temperature affected by outside conditions • Warm-blooded-has consistent body temperature

  3. chart • Look at the pie chart on page 30. • According to this chart what percentage of all animals make up vertebrates ?

  4. Discover main features of each group in the vertebrate kingdom • You will be put into teacher selected groups. You will be assigned one of the following, fish, amphibian, mammal or bird. • Your group will decide what are the common features that define the group. • We will do reptiles together as an example to follow.
