I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was Barbara Sher
Introduction • The book is an inspirational book, trying to encourage people to reach their goals • Mostly about getting outside of our comfort zone and to further oneself in the world. • Published in 1994 • The author is a business owner and career counselor
Has anyone ever been told what they should be doing? • Sher asks her readers to identify the people in their lives who have “told” them or “highly suggested” what they should be doing Doris Roberts
Chapter 1: “What Are You Supposed to be Doing?” This chapter talks about the people in our lives who like to have their “input” about what they want us to accomplish in our lives. Chapter 3 “Resistance, or What’s Stopping You, Anyway?” Sher talks about the things in our lives that is preventing us from going further in our lives and getting away from what’s comfortable to us. Chapters 1 & 3
Chapter 6 • The entire chapter talked about how people, today, want too many things. We seem to get bored very quickly, making us want to change our jobs and other things more frequently. Sher tells us to find one thing and stick to it.
Improvements • The book gave a lot of good information, however, it seemed very outdated. I would suggest an update to this book, otherwise, the younger generations may not find the information helpful.
Conclusion • In the end, I thought the book was pretty boring. It was a little bit outdated for our generation, but overall, it was insightful. • The only thing I really liked was that it included exercises that helped to understand the concepts.
