  3. Key Facts about Johanna Reiss • Johanna Reiss was eight years old when the German war occupied Holland. Her family was Jewish and that put them in great danger during the war. • When Johanna was ten,her and her sister Sini were taken into hiding by a gentile family. Johanna and her sister hid at their house for over two years. • The Canadians arrived in Holland and chased the Germans out. After two years of hiding, the Reiss family was free. The family joined together at there home in Winterswijk, Netherlands and started building their life back together.
