A, an, the • When you see an ‘a’, ‘an’, or ‘the’…. It tells you that a noun is coming up. We use these words, called articles, to announce a noun. Sometimes there is an adjective between the article and the noun. • Example – Thedog belongs to John. • Example –A dirty dog ran down the street.
Be careful • Sometimes there are adjectives that look like nouns. You can turn almost any noun into an adjective. • Example – I am taking math during 4th block. That’s a noun. • Example – I am taking math class during 4th block. That’s an adjective.
Be careful • Titles of books, movies, songs, etc. may contain many words. All the words in the title are a part of one title. • Example – War of the Worlds • You Belong to Me
