APUSH – December 1 • Objectives: • To continue to further your understanding of the themes and symbols within “Beloved” • To continue to build your timed write skills • Homework: • Thursday: Reading’s William Lloyd Garrison pgs. 83-94 and Two Views of the Constitution. Answer the discussion questions and turn them into turnitin.com • Thursday: Due “Ain’t I A Woman” • Friday: Chapter 18 key terms and quiz and “Beloved” 20-24 • Agenda: • Timed write • “The Raven” Extra Credit

  2. FRQ • Comes after the DBQ. • You will be given four options on the actual test. • You choose 2 essay prompts and you have 70 minutes total to complete both. • Today: • You will be given one prompt and 35 minutes to complete your essay. • This essay is solely based on your outside knowledge!

  3. FRQ prompt: • The Jacksonian Period (1824-1848) has been celebrated as the era of the “common man.” To what extent did the period live up to its characterization? Consider TWO of the following in your response. • Economic development • Politics • Reform Movements

FRQ follow up • Grade your own using the online rubric. • Give your self a score and mark it on the top of your essay. • Read through some of the example essays provided. • Determine if the score you gave your essay should be lower or high • Either on your essay or on a piece of paper you can turn in answer the following questions: • What was difficult about this process? • What was easy? • What strategies did you use that might be helpful to your classmates?
