  2. AO-K Supports the Economy 64% of the jobs in Kansas by 2018 will require postsecondary education Almost 38,000 Kansas jobs currently remain unfilled Between now and 2020, Kansas will need to fill almost half a million job vacancies; over 300,000 of those will require postsecondary education

  3. AO-K Supports Prosperity for Kansans • Supports Governor Brownback’s vision of: • Helping more people obtain employment • Moving more citizens from public assistance into family supporting wages • Ensuring Kansans have the skills to meet employer’s requirements

Connected Pathways Accelerated, Integrated Instruction of Basic Skills and Career Technical Skills Stackable Credentials With Employer Value Lead to Jobs and Careers Career Pathways Model Provides Educational and Social Supports Adults Complete Programs and Earn College and Industry Credentials Leading to Careers

  6. Partnerships are the Key Partnership with Department for Children and Families (TANF agency) $1.7M MOU supports AO-K (TANF eligible) enrolled students with tuition scholarships Pays on COMPLETION of 12 credit hour pathway Will provide tuition support BEYOND 12 credit hour pathway

Changing Adult Education Policy Outcomes AO-K participation increases program’s enrollments = increased outcomes • Points awarded for transition (even if student not exited) Quality Measures AO-K participation affects quality measures • Average contact hours • Percent enrollment increase • Percent completing EFL • Percent receiving technology specific instruction • Percent transitioning to PS education

Performance Based Funding Model for Adult Education Rewards AO-K Participation Outcomes • Funding will be doubled for the transition outcome beginning in FY14 for FY15 funding Quality Measures • Calculated measures with AND without AO-K students in denominator-awarded points based on higher percent
