  3. Ships • 11 ships in First Fleet • Alexander • Lady Penrhyn • Fishburn • Scarbrough • Friendship • Charlotte • Golden Grove • Borrowdale • HMS Sirius • HMS Supply • Prince of Wales

  4. Food • Convicts were given rations • Received tea • Fresh vegetables were rare • Female convicts got less rations

  5. Clothes • Convicts often looked ragged and scruffy • Given certain amounts of clothes over a year • Men and women were given different types of cothes

  6. Rewards and Punishments • Bad behaved convicts would be flogged • Convicts who ran away had to work in leg chains • Well behaved convicts were given rewards • Some convicts were given certificates of freedom

  7. Conclusion • Never pleasant • Many convicts did not survive • Some were granted freedom
