Example 2 • A fugitive on the run, the fox is denied the luxury of a fair trial: the judge looks on whilst the executioner gets straight to work. FIGURATIVE
Example 3 • Some people say that fox-hunting is an important means of pest control – but there are still just as many of those upper-class idiots roaming the English countryside. HUMOROUS
Example 4 • Foxes often vomit before they die, when the dog withdraws its teeth from the fox’s windpipe, and the blood floods out as the air rushes in. The dog’s don’t care though – they know they’ll get a nice warm bath at the end of the day. SHOCKING
Example 5 • I once went on holiday and stayed within earshot of the huntsman’s call. Every time I heard it, I felt cold and uneasy, a death knell ringing in my ears. ANECDOTES
