AEIP’s and NCCMP’s common features • We are both advocate Organizations based in the European and American political headquarters (Brussels for AEIP; Washington DC for NCCMP) aimed at defending and promoting those social benefits plans…. • ….Set up and managed by employers and employees (Unions) representatives
Cooperation agreements • In June 2009, AEIP, NCCMP and MEBCO (from Canada) signed their first Protocol of Cooperation: “Transatlantic protocol” • Main goal: to jointly promote and defend the joint labor-management, paritarian benefits plans and programs. • In particular: to pursue their common objectives of promoting retirement security and high quality and affordable healthcare for workers
Cooperation agreements • In June 2013, AEIP, NCCMP, MEBCO, the American Benefit Council (ABC) and PensionsEurope signed a new Protocol of Cooperation: “The Global Pension Alliance” • Main goal: to jointly promote and defend better, adequate and sustainable retirement benefits • Few days ago (17th of September), the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA), joined the Global Pension Alliance
Cooperation agreements • 3) The 20th of September 2013, AEIP, NCCMP, the International Association of Mutual Societies (AIM), the Japanese Kemporen (Healthcare plans), the biggest French mutual society MGEN and the Education and Solidarity Network (RES) made a • JOINT DECLARATION ON HEALTHCARE AND LONG TERM CARE • As non for profit social protection providers and actors, we all advocate for an accessible healthcare based on solidarity; without selection of risks; and independent of the individual ’s ability to pay
Aware that we are facing the same challenges, our cooperation is therefore improving on shared beliefs • Defense of the workers’ benefits and find a reasonable balance between the labor and management: in particular, to avoid that all the risks will only rely on the workers (i.e. pure DC) • To always underline the peculiarities of our plans (pension; healthcare) and their social function that should not be undermined by too strong business oriented tendencies • To think together about innovative solutions and new approaches to the social benefits’ systems of the future
