What is the ECM? • The Early College of Macomb • Public, tuition-free • Three-year accelerated program • Grades 11 through 13 • Integrated with high school courses • College campus experience • Daily academic advising • Career-focused
Who was eligible? • Students entering the 11th grade in the fall of 2010 who had • registered in Macomb County high schools • been approved by their home high schools • completed the ECM admission process • taken the placement assessment • submitted an ECM application packet

Timeline • December Brochures sent to all Macomb County tenth graders • February Parent/Student Information Nights • March Admission Testing • April Notification of Acceptance or Lottery • May Orientation • July College readiness summer program • August First day at Macomb Community College • September First day at home high school
April • Acceptance letter • Student and parent sign invitation letter, reserving a seat • Lottery • 50 initial slots for 20 districts, determined by high school population • Random number lottery at home school • Acceptance letter and response to reserve seat • Waitlist
Candidates • 130 students applied • 106 students tested • 71 were successful at passing the COMPASS exam • 65 students committed. • The lottery reduced the number to 59. • 5 changed their minds in the first month, with 54 currently enrolled.

Fall/Winter 2010 • 54 high school students • Representing 20 school districts • 24 at Center Campus, 30 at South • Taking over 200 classes, at 3 or 4 hours a class • 54 students will earn 750+ hours of college credit this semester!
