  2. WS 2. OBJECTIVES • The main objective is to highlight the important role that research in marine and technology sciences develop in the knowledge and understanding of the functioning of our seas and oceans, with a focus on the characteristics of the Mediterranean Sea in the framework of the Integrated Maritime Policy. The scientific knowledge, also supports other EU policies: (i) Job creation and sustainable and inclusive growth in Europe 2020, (ii) Implementation of the European Research Area (iii) Common Fisheries Policy: (iv) Compliance of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive; (v) innovation policies under the Innovation Union flagship initiative.
