  12. Step Two: Certification • Pass a certification examination and earn a health information management credential

Why a Credential? • Demonstrates to co-workers and supervisors a dedication to quality healthcare and the highest standards of Health Information Management • Tells employers that you have been trained and tested to implement best practices and apply current technology solutions • Sets you apart from job candidates who are not credentialed

  14. RHIA – Registered Health Information Administrator • Requires a bachelor’s degree • Frequently leads to a management level position requiring plenty of interaction with colleagues on the medical, financial and administrative staff
