  2. PRESERVATION—n. the act or process of saving • Syn: protection ant: disposal The preservation of wild areas in the United States is very important.

  3. CONSERVATIVE—adj. Not taking chances; disliking change; not extreme. • Syn: Cautious Ant: reckless • Joey was very conservative when it came to water play.

  4. OBSERVANT—adj. paying careful attention to; noticing much Syn: watchful Ant: oblivious The child learned much by being observant of the world around him

  5. CONSTRICT—v. to squeeze tightly • Syn: bind Ant: loosen The woman’s corset constricted her waist so tightly that she could scarcely breathe.

  6. RESTRICTION—n. something that limits • Syn: check, curb ant: loosen The weight restriction on the elevator was 3,500 pounds.

  7. SOLUTION—n. Something that answers or helps. • Syn: explanation Ant: complication Her solution to every problem was chocolate.

  8. ABSOLUTE—n. Something that is certain; something that does not change. • Syn: constant Ant: variable He was comforted by the absolute certainty that tomorrow would be a new day.

  9. DELIVERANCE– n. Something that saves or helps. • Syn: salvation The dog was very grateful for his deliverance from the flood.

  10. LIBERATE– v. to set free • Syn: emancipate ant. imprison The new governor refused to liberate any political prisoners

  11. LIBERAL– adj. 1. giving in amount; plentiful 2. generous • Syn: unselfish ant: ungiving The charity was stunned by the liberal donations made by the community.
